We believe…

Slow fashion is the only way forward. By only producing what we sell, we are reducing waste and contributing to more mindful processes that are kind to the planet.

Felix conscious design is based in Ōtepoti, Aotearoa. We create sustainable clothing that supports a more grounded way of living in alignment with the planet. To inspire a global shift toward conscious living by creating clothing that connects women to their bodies, the Earth, and their inner power. In a world saturated with plastic clothing, we offer alternatives to yoga and active wear that are kind to your body and kind to the planet. Clothing that breathes with your body and supports your strength, softness and how you move in the world.

Handcrafted, one by one

Hollie Perniskie - Founder

I love the term heart centred, Earth directed designs. It speaks to the spark of inspiration that drives me to create designs. The process of creating clothing centres me in my heart and brings me so much joy. Hopefully that joy is transferred into the clothing I create.

When I’m in my creative flow, the world makes sense. I’ve always been inspired by the creative people in my life; my mum and my Nan that taught me to sew at age 13. Since the first pair of pants I made back then, I’ve been driven by the sense of satisfaction in visualising a design and bringing it to life.

Earth directed is about living in alignment with our values of being as kind to the planet, as humanly possible. Choosing sustainable materials and processes that are cultivating a more mindful way of life.

We are all Kaitiaki (guardians) of this planet after all.

We choose organic materials

Our hemp and organic cotton fabric comes from a sustainable company that is woman-owned and has the following certification; SBP® Sustainable Biodegradable Products. This certification takes into consideration environmental impact as well as human impact. The SBP® label informs the consumer about each step that takes place when a product is made, from the raw materials used to the labour conditions involved. Ensuring the product is ecologically beneficial, and socially responsible.

The fabric we use for most of our garments has 4% spandex to allow the garments to retain the shape through light to heavy movement.

We believe what you wear on your skin is important. We choose materials that allow your skin and the planet to breathe.

Hemp is proven to be one of the most sustainable options, both for longevity and strength as well as in terms of the low impact on the planet. Hemp creates bio-diversity in the soil during the growing process. Requires 10 times less water than cotton and is naturally pesticide free. A fibre for our future.

Organic cotton adds an extra element of softness. The fabric we use contains organic cotton that is GOTS certified. In the process of production there are no pesticides, farmers use natural methods which create healthy soil that requires less water.  Organic cotton is hypoallergenic and chemical-free. Healthy soil means healthy farmers and supports biodiversity.

Hand-dyed in our studio

For our colour range we hand-dye fabric in our studio, using low impact dyes. Our colour inspirations come from the natural environment, and the bright pink is reference to our love of celebrating the divine feminine.

The manufacturer of our black fabric uses bluesign® low impact dyes.

Who is Felix?

A young girl in pajamas reading a book while standing in a room with yellow walls decorated with children's artwork. An older man, possibly her father, sits on a wooden chair beside her. The room has various papers, artworks, and flowers on shelves and a window with curtains. There are colorful chairs, including a purple one, and a table with bowls and dishes.

Felix was Hollie’s beloved Grandad, he instilled in her the importance of working with your hands. (Hollie and Felix working on a project together in this photo).

He was the OG fix it man, nothing was thrown away as he was constantly giving things a new life.

When she was brainstorming brand names, Felix just really stuck and Hollie felt he must be encouraging her from the other side.

The sound of Felix is like feel lux, which ties in perfectly with the brands ethos of creating clothing for women to feel luxurious in.
