We believe it’s time to say goodbye to plastic clothing…

Our inital motivation for Felix conscious design is to create clothing that offers alternatives to plastic clothing in the yoga and activewear sphere. Plastic, BPA forever chemicals saturate the market and we are determined to do our bit to be a part of a better solution. we believe it’s important to stop the use of harmful plastic materials that leach into our waterways, suffocating our bodies and the planet.

We design garments for women to feel confortable in, to move through all the motions of their day. The focus is not on beauty standards but garments that allow women’s bodies to breathe.

We use as much hemp, organic cotton and other natural fibres as possible. We are always on the look out for the most sustainable materials.

Our garments are made to order in our Ōtepoti (Dunedin) studio. We reduce waste as much as possible and believe strongly in slow fashion as a method for transforming the fashion industry.

Why wear plastic? When you can wear beautifully crafted pieces, made form hemp and organic cotton with only a little spandex to add stretch and performance.

We are proud to be Aotearoa NZ made and eternally asking ourselves, how can we tread more lightly on the planet?

What we mean by conscious

Handcrafted, one by one

Hollie Perniskie - Founder

I love the term heart centred, Earth directed designs. It speaks to the spark of inspiration that drives me to create designs. The process of creating clothing centres me in my heart and brings me so much joy. Hopefully that joy is transferred into the clothing I create.

When I’m in my creative flow, the world makes sense. I’ve always been inspired by the creative people in my life; my mum and my Nan that taught me to sew at age 13. Since the first pair of pants I made back then, I’ve been driven by the sense of satisfaction in visualising a design and bringing it to life.

Earth directed is about living in alignment with our values of being as kind to the planet, as humanly possible. Choosing sustainable materials and processes that are cultivating a more mindful way of life.

We are all Kaitiaki (guardians) of Papatūānuku (Mother Earth) after all.

Who is Felix?

A young girl in pajamas reading a book while standing in a room with yellow walls decorated with children's artwork. An older man, possibly her father, sits on a wooden chair beside her. The room has various papers, artworks, and flowers on shelves and a window with curtains. There are colorful chairs, including a purple one, and a table with bowls and dishes.

Felix is Hollie’s beloved Grandad, he instilled in her the importance of working with your hands. (Hollie and Felix working on a project together in this photo).

He was the OG fix it man, nothing was thrown away as he was constantly giving things a new life.

When she was brainstorming brand names, Felix just really stuck and Hollie felt he must be encouraging her from the other side.

The sound of Felix is like feel lux, which ties in perfectly with the brands ethos of creating clothing for women to feel luxurious in.
